I run one of the largest CS:GO skin gambling sites. AMA!
Hi, I'm known as 'Monarch' and I run one of the biggest CSGO skin betting sites, so this will probably be quite a controversial AMA topic. The CSGO gambling scene is considered shady and unregulated (rightly so) and in the last few years, it’s been plagued by a variety of scammers and scandals. A couple of examples of these include: - 1 ) Two very popular Youtubers, TmartN, and Prosyndicate (3.9M and 9.8M subscribers respectively) made videos about a site called ‘CSGOLotto’ in which it looked like they’d won huge amounts of money. It turned out that they were the owners of that same site. Here’s a video of the entire story by H3H3: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8fU2QG-lV0 2 ) Popular streamer ‘Phantoml0rd’ hosted Twitch live streams playing on ‘CSGOShuffle’. Here's a clip of his stream where he apparently wins $29,000 from other players on the website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBSYtficmdc. Phantoml0rd's Skype account was subsequently hacked, and the chat logs were leaked. It turns out that he was not only the owner of the site, but he also rigged the games in his favor. Twitch obviously banned him, so he decided to sue them – and he’s demanded $35M from Twitch for ‘damages’ caused. 3) Around a year ago, my team and I started investigating the biggest CSGO gambling site of the time and we found evidence that the games were being rigged. I shared the findings publicly, which involved some incredibly shady things about the Russian owner of the site and a very famous Swedish Youtuber. The scandal quickly gained traction and I became the target of various personal attacks and threats. I shared my story in a Twitlonger post, which someone shared on Reddit and it ended up hitting the front page: - https://www.reddit.com/GlobalOffensive/comments/9prbfj/new_evidence_that_vlad_and_anomaly_are_giving/ About me I've been running my site for nearly 4 years and in that time, we've hosted well over 5 million users. I'm an advocate for fair and transparent gambling and I've done a lot of work to expose fraudulent operators whilst pressuring other CSGO gambling sites to operate fairly. In particular, I've spread awareness of ‘provably fair’ technology which can be used by casinos to prove that the games have been drawn fairly. Unsurprisingly, this hasn’t made me popular in some of the darker corners of the skin betting industry... As a result, I've received a lot of AMA requests, so here I am. In this thread, you can ask anything from a person who knows the skin gambling scene inside and out. I'm also hoping to spark discussions about the problems concerning this kind of unregulated gambling and how we could solve them. Proof: https://twitter.com/CSGOEmpireV2/status/1164925320174145536
This company provides live dealer games for ignition/bodog/Mybookie.ag/other sites. They are potentially scamming, and the evidence is pretty damming so far. I am doing this so other don't lose their money. I was watching a streamer who figured this out, shout out to Nico. I wanted to post for aware
I have been watching Nicosia2014 a twitch streamer whom has live streamed approx 15k hands of live dealer blackjack (the guy is a god somehow 24 hours stream as well). After completing some math on stream last night with chat and analyzing the 15k hand sample Nico had the dealer has way too high a percentage of up card being a 7,8,9,10,A, the casino dealing shoe appears to be possibly rigged. The casino appears to have the ability to change cards via a remote switch based off the shoe they use called an I-SHOE which scans cards prior to their removal from shoe. This casino also places the first card as a hidden card for dealer that they receive because this is the only card that cannot be controlled. Once that hidden card is placed the machine is able to select the up card which causes players to play perfect basic strat wise, and they will end up busting more. This shoe is available by Scientific games, however this site also has it shown as a cheat device. I pray that /poker leaves this up for awareness as I know some poker players do hit the pits on occasion. The stream for Nico is small and I wanted this revelation to be known to the wider community that they are potentially cheating. The dealers don't seem to be in on the scam as we could tell. We were also counting all of the shoes and during +20 running counts on many occasions the dealer busted way higher percentage than what is within statistics with these BJ rules. This blackjack provider appears to provide blackjack for a multitude of 3rd party sites like Mybookie.ag and others. I have posted a link to the imgur of the cheat device listed on a cheating website. I will also list the link of scientific games who also provides this I-shoe. The other really funny thing is that if you are a standard consumer you cannot even buy one of these shoes to test out or use/compare that to a cheating rigged shoe. Perhaps these are sent from scientific games rigged with a remote card controller. https://imgur.com/a/4FAqTXG https://imgur.com/a/q7YdKez https://www.sggaming.com/Games/Shuffle-MasteShufflers-and-Utilities/Intelligent-Shoes/i-Shoe-Auto-7808 https://www.cardslenses.com/baccarat-poker-camera/casino-game-remote-control-blackjack-shoe.shtml The cheating site also describes the shoe like this "Description Our pro version remote control blackjack shoe can make your winner dream come true. This remote control blackjack shoe is used with common playing deck and it is translucent which will give other players a sense of reliable. So, how to play poker tricks with this remote control blackjack shoe? Inside the blackjack shoe, there is one baccarat poker camera, and a signal transmitter. When the camera read the cards, you can see the image from a monitor, and of course, there is a receiver behind the monitor. You can see the poker suits and point from the monitor. You can see one playing cards at one time. The remote control is used to exchange the next playing cards and holding the playing cards you don't need. Compare with another kind of normal playing cards blackjack shoe, this remote control blackjack shoe is the pro version for it has the function of exchanging cards. And, this poker camera blackjack shoe is not for single use, you can work with your friends. Related Links" Note - the more I look at this site jesus christ they have clear acrylic shoes with cameras inside, so many non-obvious methods of cheating. I would be sketched by more online casinos after visiting this site. streamer whom old VODs show 15k hands of the shoe in use https://www.twitch.tv/nicosia2014 P.S. The only reason I am doing this for is visibility. I don't think people should get their money scammed from them in an unfair or rigged game. That is bullshit and I want to stop others whom may be down the wrong path. Also when the site was asked why they hide the first dealer card as almost no other casino does online or land based they said " because mah procedure" LOOOOL! INb4 Costa Rican scam artists INb4 shills say its not rigged PPS Also this site should make you more aware of what cheat devices exist to better protect yourselves as well. With this stuff on the market I would question most high stakes homes games. PPSS I also linked a vod of a sequence when they open up the shoe due to a feed error https://clips.twitch.tv/prettypolitealligatorlitfam
Sodapoppin and other big streamers are about to get sponsored by one of the biggest online fraudster
Hey to everyone from a throwaway account (I kinda do like my life and not really interested to lose it ;))! I hope there is still time for me to warn all of you before all this shit blows up and it will no longer be possible to do anything against it. I hope I will be able to prevent all this from happening. Let´s start from the begging. There is a guy named [Vlad](https://twitter.com/vladtweeting) who is the faunder of a company named [Kickback](https://www.linkedin.com/company/kickback-gg/). At the begging his company provided a 1v1 csgo games for real money. At the time csgo skin gambling became a huge business and Vlad teamed up with FaZe Rain and FaZe Banks and they together worked on a website called csgowild. In 2016 Valve announced that all csgo gambling sites have to shut down immediately (csgowild at the time actually did shut down). Approximately a year after that Vlad created a completely rigged csgo skin opening website called SkinHub. These unreagulated casinos need something called ["provably fair system"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provably_fair). SkinHub had one to look legit to their customers, but the code strings never matched and users were being displayed [fake outcomes](https://imgur.com/a/AKEUw) (multiple proves and plus a lot of interesting things to read). This way Vlad was able to earn insane amounts and was able to abuse the power of money to get rid of their competitors offering insane deals to content creators. We are talking up to $300,000 for a single youtube video for a youtuber with 4 million subscribers. He also bought back CsgoWild and also started rigging games there (bots playing against users), which he got [exposed](http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sqclek) the same week he launched the site, haha. In the past few months Valve was pretty succefull getting rid of those highly illegal gambling websites. All Vlad´s csgo skin sites are now gone, but Vlad is not. He just launched a bitcoin rulette site called [Slip](slip.gg) and many more are ready to come. Considering Vlad´s history, we can expect what is comming on us. According to my leaks from multiple sources straith from Kickback this will come very soon. Streamers are simply not able to say no to the offers they are currently receiving (again, hundreds of thousands of dollars a month). Please, try to do something against this yourself, Twitch will NOT do anything. Twitch will NOT ban gambling, nor say anything. Kickback´s [major investor](https://twitter.com/justinkan) was a major investor for Twitch. Wonder why csgo skin gambling was not allowed on Twitch after the PhantomL0rd scandal, but those case opening websites (yes, skinhub) were? Yeah... Please, again, if we will not be able to stop these sponsorships from happening, just dont play on these sites that will be heavilly advertised, your money will never be safe. Thanks, Mr.Z.
I played “free to play” card games so you don’t have to
I’ve had my fair share of games over the years, and one type of game that has always drawn me to interest is card games. The 1 on 1 dueling, the immense strategy involved, the intensity of trying to figure out the next best moves; it’s a rush! Overall, I’ve spent $400 on Hearthstone (in which I’ve won $200 from tournament earnings), and $20 on YuGiOh Duel Links in which I was able to reach Legend 5 (the second-highest rank in the game). In Duel Links, however, I noticed something that made me feel betrayed by whoever made the game. Whenever I got really close to getting the highest rank (King of Games), or had to play a “Rank Down” game, I was given absolutely useless hands that quickly forced me to concede against much more fortunate opponents. This also happened to me in the two games I was able to play in which, had I won, I would have made it to KoG rank. So what happened? After a huge winning streak, I happened to come upon an incredibly “unlucky” streak for the first time to the point where I dropped 4 ranks. This is huge as you have to lose many games overall to drop this many ranks. Rather I started out with perfect hands, or my hand was absolutely useless. There was nothing in between even though the deck had many useful cards. I set out to make a meme about my experience which happened to receive a lot of attention and agreement! Other people also had many similar experiences in the game in which they kept getting “unlucky” no matter what deck they were using or how it was structured. But why was this the case? In every game, there is a skill bell curve. You’ll have the 1% of players that don’t even know how to move their character(s), the 25% benchmark when you’re getting the hang of it, and the 50% benchmark where you’re competent enough to be good at the game. After this, you have the 25th percentile that are above average at the game and, then the 1st percentile of players that make up the best players in the world. In pure skill-based games, such a system is fair and practically perfect. However, in games that require more luck, especially those that can be easily manipulated, the bell curve of “skill” suddenly becomes very different and ultimately unfair. Game companies know that they can’t have too many people in the higher tiers of skill-level matchmaking. If there are, then the game loses its appeal as people will call it “too easy”. What’s different about card games, however, is that there’s always a set “meta” consisting of the best possible decks to use for a season, and most are fairy straight-forward and easy to use. Yet what happens if too many people are playing with these “meta” decks and are easily climbing the ladder? That’s right; there’s too many people at the top, and the game loses its appeal. This can especially be the case in free-to-play games where players through luck can get the best cards for free. So how do game companies for digital card games make it so that this doesn’t happen? By purposely rigging the system. It’s known that game companies are in complete control of every aspect of the game and are constantly collecting data of their games. When they collect this data, they determine ways to alter the meta and keep the skill curve in balance. This includes;
Which decks are more successful than others
Which starting hands and draw orders for that deck are most likely to result in winning the game
Which starting hands and draw orders for that deck are most likely to result in losing the game
What ranks players with these decks are in
How “evenly” distributed these players are
Which players should advance ahead and which ones should be forced to rank down
If you’re a prominent player for the game (I.e. a big-time streamer or promoter) so that you give the game a good reputation and get people to want to play through winning with expensive decks
etc.
With all of this data, they fix a meta that works against most player’s abilities to climb the ladder to the top; even if they have the “skills” to do so. This way, not only do they keep maintain a necessary “balance” in the skill divisions, they also get the hardcore players who spent quite a bit of time and money preparing their decks to get even more obsessed with the game (and get the not-so-hardcore players to want to buy packs to get the “best” cards). In other words, they maintain an artificial and unfair balance that keeps players playing, and thus make it more likely for the game to make money. It’s the best of everything for the game companies.
So take my advice; stop playing “free-to-play” card games that are designed like casinos to keep you playing and paying.
